The MIYUMI Project at Fred Anderson Park: August

Bring your chairs, drinks, snacks, and enjoy an outdoor concert in the spirit of Fred Anderson! The Birdhouse presents a Fred Anderson Legacy concert with The Miyumi Project featuring Fred Jackson and Mai Sugimoto (alto saxophone) and Kioto Aoki (percussion).

MIYUMI Project, Chicago’s renowned Asian American multicultural jazz group, and veteran musicians of the Fred Anderson Legacy Project will be joined by special guests and collaborators. Together, they will expand on the traditions of creative music and explore the possibilities of new collaborations. In the spirit of the revered composer, musician and club owner Fred Anderson, they will play innovative music with a diverse assembly of artists and continue the traditions of inclusion and experimentation that he fostered in his venue and on his stage. This special 2021 summer performance will include Tsukasa Taiko National Gintenkai Unit members Kiyomi Negi and Kembre Daniel.

Sponsored in-part by Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks, Asian Improv aRts Midwest and Birdhouse Inc. and the Fred Anderson Park Advisory Council.
