GINKENSHIBU 50TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT IN NORTH AMERICA
Ginkenshibu is a collective term for the traditional Japanese performing arts “Gin-ei” (expressive recitation of classical Chinese and Japanese poetry) and “Ken-shibu” (Gin-ei recitation accompanied by sword and fan dance).
Asian Improv aRts Midwest welcomed the Nippon Ginkenshibu Foundation from Japan for a very special collaboration event that marked the commemoration of Ginkenshibu’s 50th founding anniversary. This exciting presentation of Japanese drum and traditional performing arts was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago on July 29, 2018.
